Grand City Tour (Half Day) Explore the wonderful city of Brussels. Start with a short walk to the famous Grand Place and hear about the history of this remarkable square with its elaborately decorated houses built by medieval guilds or corporations. Then take a luxury coach to tour city sites including the beautiful St Michael’s Cathedral; the Congress Column, and the Heyseldistict with the world famous Atomium, the main pavilion and icon of the World Fair in the city in 1958. Marvel at the sight of the Chinese Pavilion and the Japanese tower. Passing the Royal Residence we return to the city centre and see the Sablon district with its countless antique shops. Brussels lace is world-famous, and you will be able to stop to visit a workshop where you can learn about this age-old local craft. The visit continues with a drive in front of the magnificent Palace of Justice and the fashionable Louise Square. We then pass the stately Royal Square, the Royal Palace and the Houses of Parliament to arrive in the Cinquantenaire district. The Triumphal Arch, exceptional museums and the splendid Art Nouveau houses are the highlights of this part of the city. Here we are also of course at the heart of the European Union; we drive in front of the imposing EU buildings housing the Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers.

Full day excursion to Bruges and/or Ghent Visit the charming cities of Bruges and/or Ghent. It’s a one hour drive to Ghent where we visit the Saint Bavo Cathedral with the Mystic Lamb painting (an optional visit) and the historical centre with the Belfry and the Castle of the Earls. We arrive in Bruges, known as ‘the Venice of the North’ for its pretty canals, around lunchtime and begin with a visit of the Beguinage (convents) and bobbin lace making. This tour also offers free time for optional lunch and shopping till 3pm. The walking tour will visit the historical centre including the Grand Place, Burg and Our Lady Church with Michelangelo’s statue Madonna with Child. This flexible tour also allows time for an optional canal ride of 30 mins.
