Drive 43 kilometres to the magnificent Sumela Monastery. Built on the mountainside in the 6th century high above the Altindere, there is a leisurely route or take the quicker, steeper path to the top of this architectural wonder.
Take a day trip to Uzungol, a beautiful lake in a valley between high-rising mountains perfectly reflecting the green hills and white mosque. The view during the journey is stunning.
After walking around the lake, which takes about an hour, buy small handicrafts or food from local vendors and then dine on fresh fish in one of the authentic restaurants.
