Day 1: JOHANNESBURG – MPUMALANGA – NELSPRUIT – WHITE RIVER – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
After collection from your Johannesburg hotel, we head east to spectacular Mpumalanga (the “Place Where the Sun Rises”) via Nelspruit, White River and Hazyview. After freshening up at your safari lodge, spend the afternoon game viewing in an open safari vehicle. In the late afternoon, return to the hotel for dinner as the delicious aroma of South African cooking fills the air.
DAY 2: PANORAMA ROUTE – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Take early morning breakfast before sampling the highlights of the breathtaking Panoramic Route. Sights include Bourke’s Luck potholes, and the mighty waterfalls of Gods Window and Lisbon. Return to the hotel for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.
DAY 3: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – SABIE – LYDENBURG – DULLSTROOM – JOHANNESBURG.
Stunning early morning game viewing of the “Big Five” and prolific bird life. After breakfast, you travel to Johannesburg over the historic 2150m summit of Long Tom Pass. You continue via Dullstroom where there is a quick lunch stop, arriving in Johannesburg in the early evening.
We recommend you do not book flights on the return day as travel times and stops may vary.
Gold Reef Heritage Tour (Half Day). Learn about the discovery of gold in South Africa and descend 220 metres into a mine to see how the precious metal was extracted. Highlights of this half day tour include an interactive tour with an introductory film, a visit underground and to three mine houses, and the chance to see a bar of gold being poured. Please note: Children under the age of 5 are not allowed underground.
Pretoria – Half Day Tour (Afternoon). Known as ‘’the Jacaranda City’’ after the purple-blossomed trees which line its thoroughfares, Pretoria is a lovely, quiet city and this tour enables you to learn about its fascinating history. Highlights include: the Voortrekker Monument (the massive granite structure built to honour the Voortrekkers who left the Cape Colony between 1835 and 1854) and Church Square, the historic centre of the city that features many historically and architecturally significant buildings.
